What kinds of scholarships are available from The Imagine Fund?
The Imagine Fund manages scholarships funded by donors
who want to support students attending specific colleges and universities, perhaps studying certain subjects, or are designed
for students with certain backgrounds. As scholarships to be managed by The Imagine Fund become available, funds (with descriptions) will be sorted by institution and information will be made available on this website.
How do I apply for scholarship assistance?
As Scholarships become available, scholarship criteria and applications will be made available on this website. Or you
can contact The Imagine Fund to request that a printed
application be mailed to you.
Who can apply for scholarship assistance?
The Imagine Fund exists to keep the doors of opportunity
open for those whose race, sex, color, ethnicity or national
origin may otherwise limit their path. Its mission is to ensure
equal opportunity for all by advancing diversity in higher
education. Students of color, of diverse ethnicity, religion and
national origin, women, LGBT students, and to students with
disabilities who are currently enrolled or interested in attending
college are eligible to apply. Students should be interested in
attending a Michigan college or university.
I live in Michigan but I want to attend an out of state
college. Can I get aid from The Imagine Fund?
The Imagine Fund scholarships are dedicated to assist
students attending Michigan public or private colleges
and universities.
I live outside of Michigan but want to attend a Michigan
university. Am I eligible for an Imagine Fund scholarship?
If The Imagine Fund is invited to manage scholarships that
allow out of state residents to apply, the scholarship criteria and
applications will be made available on this website.
Is my Imagine Fund scholarship renewable?
The Imagine Fund scholarships vary by donor, fund, and
institution. You will be told of eligibility to renew when you
are awarded a specific scholarship.
How much will I receive?
Scholarship amounts vary based on how much is donated
and availability.

How to Support The Imagine Fund
How do I set up the criteria for my scholarship?
The Imagine Fund staff will assist you in identifying criteria
that best achieves your goals to advance diversity through
higher education.
What is the minimum amount that I may contribute to create a
named scholarship or to donate to The Imagine Fund general scholarship fund?
All gifts to The Imagine Fund are appreciated and there is no
minimum amount that may be contributed to The Imagine
Fund general scholarship fund. A named restricted scholarship
may be established with a donation of $500. A named endowed
scholarship fund may be established with a donation of $30,000.
What is the difference between a restricted scholarship and an endowed scholarship?
A restricted scholarship is created with the intent that 100% of the
dollars donated may be allocated to students on an annual basis.
Once the funds are awarded to students, the scholarship no longer exists unless a new donation is made to fund it.
An endowed scholarship annually allocates a percentage of the principal amount donated. The original gift and any additional gifts
to the endowed fund are invested for growth with the intent that the
scholarship will be funded into perpetuity.
May I be involved in the selection of the scholarship recipient?
The Imagine Fund staff will discuss options available to donors to
be engaged in the scholarship selection process that are allowable
under IRS guidelines. The Imagine Fund staff will manage the
scholarship selection process using established procedures
followed by higher education scholarship aid programs.
Will I know who receives my scholarship?
Absolutely! The Imagine Fund will communicate to donors who has
received the scholarship along with a brief biography of the recipient.
Does The Imagine Fund charge a management fee to manage the scholarship?
The Imagine Fund will assess an annual fee to support the expenses
incurred by managing the scholarship funds. Fees will be reviewed
annually and will be set in accordance to guidelines established by
the Michigan Council on Foundations. Notification of the fee assessment will be communicated to all donors.
