Welcome to The Imagine Fund
Opportunity. It is the foundation of the
American dream and the core of our faith
in a better future. It’s a word that
defines the American character and
inspires us to pursue our dreams. History & Mission Statement
Having an opportunity means having the
chance to try -- unencumbered by any
qualifications of race, color, sex,
ethnicity, national origin, economic
status or other cultural characteristics.
But that vision of available opportunity
is not yet our reality.
There are inequities across all sectors
of society – in education, in the board
room, on our campuses. Some inequities are
well known; most are subtle
and ingrained
in our systems and consciousness.
Our current reality, however, creates an
opportunity to eliminate barriers, level
the playing field, and model the importance
of equity.
The Imagine Fund exists to keep the doors
of opportunity open for those whose race, color,
sex, ethnicity, national origin and/or cultural characteristics
may otherwise limit their path. Its
mission is to ensure equal opportunity
for all by advancing diversity in higher
education.
Working with donors who are interested in
funding scholarships that are purposively
designed to advance diversity at Michigan
colleges and universities, The Imagine
Fund will distribute scholarships to
academically qualified students attending
both public as well as private
institutions.
Our commitment to the benefits of
diversity find us equaling willing to
manage scholarships for students in the
LGBT, religious and disability communities
just as we are willing to manage
scholarships intended for students with
race, color, sex, ethnicity, national
origin, or other cultural characteristics.
By doing so, The Imagine Fund will help
ensure that our college and university
campuses continue to open minds to the
benefits of diversity and interculturalism.
It is committed to seeing that our higher
education institutions truly transform
lives by fostering environments where
diversity is the norm not the exception.
Most importantly,
it believes in the idea
that students – all students— should
develop cultural competencies to build
better communities now and in the future.
Imagine… the potential of this idea and
the power of its reality.
Imagine… a Michigan where our differences
are valued more than they are debated.
